{GROUP TO FORM ARTISOFT JAPAN K.K.
Releases Japanese Kanji Version of LANtastic Network Operating
System
(TUCSON, Ariz. -- December 9, 1991) --
Artisoft, the Tucson-based manufacturer of the award-winning
LANtastic Local Area Network, announced today that it has entered
into a joint venture agreement with AALL Technology Group (ATG)
to form Artisoft Japan K.K. Artisoft also announced the release
of a Japanese Kanji version of its LANtastic Network Operating
System for the NEC and PC-compatible markets in Japan.
Artisoft Japan K.K. is a subsidiary of Artisoft, Inc. and will
be responsible for the promotion, marketing, adaptation,
distribution and technical support of Artisoft products in Japan.
It will market the LANtastic Local Area Network software through
master distributors in Japan.
"The formation of Artisoft Japan and the development of a
Japanese version of the LANtastic network should greatly enhance
our opportunities for success in that market," commented Jack
Schoof, Artisoft's President and CEO. "It represents a very
important step towards expanding Artisoft's global presence."
ATG K.K. (AALL Technology Group) has been Artisoft's exclusive
distributor of the LANtastic network in Japan since 1989. They
have accumulated extensive knowledge and experience with respect
to LAN products while working on the customization and translation
of the LANtastic network for the Japanese environment.
Artisoft develops and manufactures a full line of hardware and
software for local area networks, including the LANtastic Local
Area Network. The LANtastic Network is the leading DOS-based
peer-to-peer network and has won numerous awards for its
cost-effective features, performance and ease of use. It allows
up to 300 users of IBM-compatible computers to connect and share
information and peripheral devices such as printers, hard drives
and CD-ROMs.
